Welcome to the La Souterraine English Library

Café and Cultural Centre.

We offer a wide range of mainly paperback books in both English and French, along with a large collection of DVDs for members to borrow.

Why not relax with a beverage and biscuits—or perhaps a slice of homemade cake—in Caxton’s, our on-site café? It’s the perfect spot to catch up with old friends or make new ones.

Our members, from many different countries (not all Anglophone), pay a small annual subscription fee, which lets them borrow freely from our extensive book selection.

We also offer group French lessons, which have been extremely popular, with tuition at all levels. We host a quarterly quiz for both French and English members (and non-members), plus a monthly Wine Tasting Group.

Our art group and craft group are thriving, and we always welcome suggestions for new activities.

We also organize walking tours of La Souterraine and the surrounding area, which have been very well received.
