Welcome to the La Souterraine English library and Information Centre website.
We offer a wide range of mainly paperback books available in both English and French together with a large collection of DVD’s for our members to borrow.
Why not relax with a beverage and biscuits or perhaps some home made cake in Caxton’s, our on-site cafe, where you can catch up with old friends or maybe make new ones?
Our members (who hail from different countries, not all of them Anglophone) pay a small annual subscription fee which entitles them to borrow freely from our selection of books. Titles that are unavailable on the shelves may also be ordered specially.
The library also offers group French lessons that have proven to be extremely popular, with tuition at all levels available.
We have an active art group, and we always welcome suggestions for further activities that are of interest to members.
Organised walking tours of La Souterraine and surrounding areas have also been well received.
We are also proud to show our solidarity with the Ukranian refugees in La Souterraine by inviting them to use our premises as a meeting place.
